Transforming lives through Adventure safari.

We are happy to be involved in the Uganda community to help bring about improvement in the livelihood of people and help totally transform communities.

We are pleased to offer our clients this opportunity to enjoy not only Uganda's wildlife and the friendly people, but also take part in directly affecting lives for good.

You do not necessarily need to be skilled in a certain way to be part of our volunteer projects. All that's required is a desire to make a difference. We believe the starting point to making a difference in lives begins with a willingness to be part of enriching lives.

There are innumerable ways you can be involved as a volunteer in the Ugandan communities to help change lives one at a time. The duration of your stay will ultimately depend on you. Border-Less Travel Ltd arranges durations from 3 days to 4 weeks and more.

1. Medical projects - the Uganda community at large is scarcely able to access medical attention, statistics here show that there's 1 doctor to 1000 patients, with average life expectancy at 48 years, most Ugandans practically never afford a doctor all their lives. Malaria a disease that is easily addressable is a huge problem especially in the rural areas and in the recent past has claimed more lives than AIDS. With a medical team (group) - nurses, doctors, medical practioners, you can visit local communities and help dispense medical supplies and through even the simplest means save the future of many children and adults.

2. Infrastructure - 85% of Uganda is rural, Kampala the capital city is by far the most developed area in terms of housing. However, there's still great evidence of a need for the same in the auspices of the city. You can help a family or a widow establish a decent brick house. Come with a team and sweat it out laying bricks.

3. Water/Sanitation - only a fraction of Uganda's massive population has access to clean drinking water. Help sponsor the digging of a well to supply clean drinking water to a local community.

4. Agricultural Projects - 80% of Uganda's employed populace is working under the agricultural sector. Uganda boasts of some of the best climate you will find anywhere, this has provided ideal opportunities of crop growth. However, most practices are still on a subsistence level. Uganda desperately needs mechanized means of agricultural practice.

5. Northern Uganda outreach - characterized by war and instability for at least 20 years, this area is finally experiencing restoration. Take part in the rehabilitation process of northern Uganda by being a volunteer, donating, sponsoring a war affected child.

6. Sponsorship - You can help sponsor a child who would otherwise have no opportunity in his/her lifetime. Help them to acquire skills that would propel them to purpose and making a difference in their own communities in return. You might just support a future Ugandan leader.

7. Volunteer at a babies’ home – Spend time looking after babies that have been abandoned and picked up and restored. Feed, clothe, bath and play with them. View Itinerary

8. Educational - the Uganda population is presently estimated at 28 million people. Of this over 60% are below the age of 18 and school going. Universal Primary Education(UPE) a government program that allows free education for all elementary school going children has seen immense response that has led to over crowding of schools and eminent shortage of infrastructure and scholastic materials, some children hold their classes under Mango trees- a good gesture but not very rain-friendly. Sponsor a child and provide for their education, help provide for and participate in the construction of classroom blocks, bring scholastic materials or altogether participate in establishing a school.

9. Environment - Be a part of a tree planting scheme, help protect and preserve the beauty and chastity of 'the pearl of Africa'. View Itinerary

Zebra- wildlife in ugandaThings to note before you arrive and whilst in Uganda......

  • Depending on where you are from and this may not really matter, the culture will be totally different, many people will absolutely fall in love with it or downright detest it. Whatever your response, we believe this is a learning experience.
  • Taking part in this will give you an opportunity to contribute and make a difference in a local community and will give you a chance to experience the Ugandan(African) culture first hand.
  • The Uganda cousine may not necessarily be your cup of tea, and that can be sorted. But it will be great just to share in the food, laughter and humor of the Uganda people.
  • Poverty is prevalent in the community so beware of that. Remember our goal is not to feel sorry for the people for that does not help. Our goal is to empower the people and help them see that they can make a difference in their own lives and communities.
  • In a society where a hand-out mentality is deeply embraced and practiced, we would like to help people change that and give you an opportunity to offer a hand up and not a handout.

Zebra- wildlife in ugandaDress code while in the community.

  • In Uganda, ladies tend to wear dresses or skirts and blouses especially so in the the more rural areas.
  • The dressing trend in the city however is changing and a lot of western styles have been embraced. However, it is important to note that Ugandans generally prefer to be over dressed as opposed to being under - dressed. As one Ugandan president once said "smartness knows no weather" Ugandans take that seriously.

The food.......

  • Kampala has quite a wide cuisine for you to choose from ranging from orient to a variety of western dishes.
  • Local dishes consist of sweet potatoes, mashed green bananas, groundnut sauce, beef, fish, goat, Irish potatoes, cassava, yams, and lots more.
  • Uganda has lots of fruit, we could be biased but we think Uganda has the best, most tasty, most natural fruit anywhere in the world. Pineapples, mangoes, oranges, jackfruit and passion fruit.
  • In a country where a prosperous person is predicted by their size, it’s a compliment to be told how endowed you are. From history most African men preferred to marry fleshier women, although that is changing a little bit you will notice the preferences.
